Step 1: Processing the Upper Flexible Denture
The fabrication sequence began with the maxillary arch reconstruction. First, our lab technicians surveyed the master models to determine the optimal path of insertion for the missing molar zones (16, 17, and 27).
To fulfill the clinician’s aesthetic requirement, we selected a premium thermo-plastic nylon material. As a result, the upper flexible denture provides a highly natural, metal-free appearance that blends seamlessly with the oral mucosa. However, ensuring retention without visible metal wires requires advanced artistic design. To combat this, we crafted custom tissue-colored flexible clasps to secure snugly onto teeth 15 and 26. Step 2: Casting the Lower Titanium Framework
Reconstructing the mandibular arch required a vastly different mechanical approach because the bilateral free-end extensions (missing 33-35 and 43-45) face intense chewing forces. Nevertheless, achieving zero-adjustment seating with a lower titanium framework requires absolute precision during the initial CAD/CAM block-out phase.
In accordance with professional dental metallurgy standards, our technicians cast a high-purity medical-grade titanium framework. Specifically, titanium was selected because it is 40% lighter than traditional cobalt-chrome, yet it offers incredible structural stiffness.
- For instance, we engineered custom-milled supportive clasps directly onto anchoring teeth 33, 37, 43, and 47.
- In addition, these circumferential clasps distribute vertical occlusal forces evenly down the long axes of the remaining natural teeth.
- Finally, we carefully bonded a premium pink acrylic base to the mesh areas of the titanium framework to mimic natural soft tissues.
Step 3: Aligning Yamahachi Teeth onto the Titanium Framework
Once the lower metal skeleton passed structural quality checks, both arches were mounted securely onto a semi-adjustable articulator. This phase allows us to replicate the patient’s unique eccentric jaw movements.
Following the articulation process, our ceramists meticulously arranged the premium Yamahachi Dental teeth. Specifically, our quality control inspectors verified three critical parameters prior to final acrylization:
- Perfect Interproximal Contacts: This prevents unwanted shifting and localized food impaction.
- Accurate Clasp Passive Seating: Ensuring the clasps on both the upper nylon base and the lower titanium framework engage the teeth comfortably.
